  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or Italian sausage until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking until soft and fragrant, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Stir in marinara sauce and Italian seasoning, then remove from heat.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.
  5. To assemble lasagna in the crockpot, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of the slow cooker.
  6. Place 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce, breaking them as needed to fit.
  7. Add half of the ricotta mixture, followed by a layer of mozzarella cheese, and then another layer of meat sauce.
  8. Repeat the layering process with another 3 noodles, remaining ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and meat sauce.
  9. Top with the last 3 noodles, the remaining meat sauce, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
  10. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours or until the noodles are tender and the cheese is bubbly.
  11. Once done, turn off the slow cooker and let it sit for 10-15 minutes before serving.
